Lloyd, your letter is void of substance.

Holy cow sports fans another empty letter to the editor of the Day about Laura Natusch. Now we have Lloyd Beachy praising the accomplishments of Laura yet there are no concrete examples of any real accomplishments. Hmmmmmm what does that say about these people that write the letters? Not much. What you have here is a letter writing campaign to just throw a name at the people.

“I have known Laura for a number of years and have always been impressed by her service to our city in a number of areas, especially in the arts and culture scene. Additionally, she has advocated for those who live in our downtown, has invested in a home on Mountain Avenue, and sells her personal well-care products in the Farmers Market on the Plaza every Friday”

Impressed by her service to our city, really what service? Laura is on the personnel board, we do not know how long, a year, a month, two years. Did she get appointed under the mayor’s administration just so she could list it as service for her council bid? As a member of the personnel board has she supported the unqualified people put forth and hired by the mayor? I think that answer is clear and it demonstrates a commitment and service to the mayor not the people of New London. The hiring of a completely unqualified high school graduate as director of the office of economic development is a first for the state and probably the country and Laura supports that although it violated the personnel policies and charter with respect to employee qualifications. And then there is the public works director, he has “ZERO” experience and is in way over his head. Laura supports that decision as well. Bravo Laura!

I guess we all know now that the business that Laura runs is a farmers market wares seller. Please provide something of substance a state business ID from the Secretary of The State’s office. Some financial background as far as the business budget and sales would be interesting to know and evaluate the capability of this candidate.

New London is more than downtown, yet a strength identified about Laura is she advocates for those who live downtown. What about the rest of the people in New London. They all matter as well.

Lloyd further states:

“I see in her a person who will work with our mayor in making the city grow into” and I have to say it will end like this, the city the mayor wants no matter what the majority of the people wish or want.

Based on this letter and others we cannot and should not vote for the "Soap Seller of New London". Why not vote for the little girl who sells sea shells by the sea shore?
