Laura is a blind supporter of the mayor and administration.

The September14th letter to the DAY editor (http://theday.com/article/20130913/OP02/309139951) identifies her just that way. The council is not elected to work in harmony with the mayor, there are two branches of our form of municipal governance, the executive branch (the mayor) and the legislative branch (the city council). Both have distinct and defined responsibilities, both the mayor and each member of the city council take oaths of office and swear to defend and uphold the charter of the city of New London. The mayor has continually violated the charter and Laura still stands behind the mayor at each of these charter violations.

Laura’s running mate for council (another mayoral blind supporter) wrote a letter to the DAY editor speaking of “CRISIS” in the city. Is Laura in opposition to her running mate on the city council ticket? Since the letter from Laura’s supporter speaks of false cries of crisis.

Is the police force that she speaks about hiring and training the same police force that the mayor has systematically destroyed? The same one that it will cost $4,000,000.00 to rebuild to the level that it was at prior to the systematic dismantling by the mayor? Just wondering what Laura is talking about?

“As a small business owner” What small business is it that Laura owns? What are the annual sales? The community wants to know so we understand exactly size budget she has experience with. Facts please not just empty rhetoric.

Yes good schools are essential, but as a city councilor Laura has no input or say in the school system. Maybe she meant to run for Board of Education.

Can the author of this letter provide something that demonstrates the integrity and commitment that she makes reference to? Probably not, another empty letter of blind support.
