DJF or MEP
Mayor Daryl Justin Finizio has announced his intentions to run for re-election. This move is bold considering is performance during his first two years in office. DJF as he signs off on items penned a brilliant vision statement for New London outlining what he would do to better New London. As with all else during his tour in New London the vision statement was just as void of substance as his first two years in office.
Who else will toss their hat into the ring? On the democratic side there is a lot of talk of a Passero run, many feel that Passero is the front runner for the party nod. No doubt that the mayor will primary. Will the republicans be able to come up with a viable candidate? Perhaps Mr. Sprecace or Mr. Pero will rise to the occasion.
The sad reality is that the odds of a decent candidate rising out of the mess in New London are not that good. New London needs real leadership and not one of the possible candidates in the preliminary field has demonstrated a spark of true leadership talent. Listen to the candidates or read their printed material they portray themselves as leaders of great magnitude. The facts speak differently at each opportunity to demonstrate any leadership qualities they have each completely.

DJF has the excuse of age and inexperience, Passero on the other hand has twenty or more years of wisdom and experience over DJF, both are lawyers and have been well educated. Passero has no excuse for his failure to take charge and lead when given the opportunity. DJF is young and may learn to do the right thing, Passero’s time to learn has passed.
