Riverside Files: Day Two

Day Two at Riverside Park is a typical fall day- bright with sun bouncing off the leaves of red and gold and a mild breeze coming off the Thames River.

What looks like hundreds of volunteers are spread across the park with one goal in mind; to complete the play structure that will become a monument to little Emilie Parker, one of 26 victims to die in the Stony Brook Elementary School shootings.

But this playscape is more than a monument to a tragedy.

It is a symbol of all that is best in our fellow travelers who have come together from places far and near to share their compassion, understanding and hope, not only with the family of Emile Parker, but with each other and with us and, and by so doing, to remind us all of the good that exists in this world we share.

How do we say Thank You?
