New London's Safelite Autoglass Is Collecting Toys For Tots

As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to the local communities where its employees live and work, Safelite AutoGlass® is hosting a Marine Toys for Tots drive from Dec. 2 to 14 at its location in New London. Safelite®encourages its employees and local residents to drop off new and unwrapped toys to all of its locations in East Hartford, New London, Bridgeport, North Haven and Waterbury, Connecticut.

The Toys for Tots drives are being held as part of the Safelite AutoGlass® Foundation. The Foundation is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of local families through monetary and in-kind contributions and volunteer hours. 

Since its inception in 2005, the Safelite AutoGlass® Foundation has donated more than $5 million to non-profit organizations. Set up as a separate entity governed by company employees, the Foundation administers giving on behalf of Safelite® and its employees. The Foundation disburses aid to approved causes or charities, and organizes many giving initiatives in communities where our associates live and work. Safelite’s Connecticut team regularly donates their time and money to support local causes and charities in Connecticut, including the Sandy Hook Foundation, Ability Beyond Disability and Connecticut’s Children Hospital. At Safelite®, each employee is given two paid days off for local volunteering efforts, which is equivalent to more than 1,700 man hours in Connecticut. In addition to donating their time, employees are also committed to reducing the company’s impact on the environment. This year alone, Safelite’s Connecticut facilities have recycled more than 150 tons of windshields which is equivalent to 67,089 average bricks. About Marine Toys for Tots Foundation

The mission of Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is to assist the U. S. Marine Corps in providing a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas. This assistance includes supporting the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program by raising funds to provide toys to supplement the collections of local Toys for Tots campaigns, to provide promotional and support material and defray the costs of conducting annual Toys for Tots campaigns. Other Foundation support includes providing administrative, advisory, financial, logistic and promotional support to local Toys for Tots Coordinators; managing funds raised and monies donated based on the use of Toys for Tots name or logo; providing other support the Marine Corps, as a federal agency, cannot provide; and conducting public education and information programs about Toys for Tots that call the general public to action in support of this patriotic community action program.
