Doing Last Minute Shopping? Here's What's Open, What's Closed Over Christmas in New London

• New London Schools are on winter break today through January 1. 
• New London Public Library is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christmas Eve but is closed Christmas Day.
• New London City Hall and all municipal offices are closed Christmas Day.   
• The U.S. Postal Service will deliver the mail as usual on December 24, but the New London Post Office will close at noon and will be closed Christmas Day. 
• All Town, State and Federal government offices will be closed Christmas Day. Many will also be closing early on Christmas Eve. 

Attention Holiday Shoppers—Here's What's Open

I confess, I'm one of those crazy people who does all my Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve. If you've got last minute gifts to get or holiday food shopping to do, most stores at Crystal Mall and other adjacent malls in Waterford and New London will close around 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve, although some, such as Macy's which is open until midnight, will have extended holiday hours to accommodate panicked shoppers.  

Conversely, there are a few stores, including Wal Mart, Stop & Shop, and Dunkin' Donuts that we take for granted will be open every day of the year, some 24 hours, that will be closed on Christmas Day. Here are the holiday hours of stores you might be planning to stop at today and tomorrow:  

Best Buy
Dec. 24: 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
Dec 25: Closed

Macy's
Dec. 24: 12 a.m.-12 a.m. (select locations)
Dec. 25: Closed

Marshalls
Dec. 24: 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Dec. 25: Closed

Michaels
Dec. 24: 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

Target
