The Community Coalition for Children presents FEET + FORKS = Healthy Kids + Healthy Community

Dr. David Katz, internationally known expert of nutrition, weight management and chronic disease prevention will be the featured speaker at the Garde Arts Center tonight.

It's not always easy to eat a healthful diet but, with advice ever changing on what's good for you and what's not, it's sometimes hard to determine which foods are best and what's best avoided. If you're looking for someone to help clear up the confusion, you won't want to miss tonight's featured speaker at the Garde Arts Center in New London.

David L. Katz, M.D., is an internationally known expert in nutrition, weight management, and chronic disease prevention. He is the author of 12 books, Editor-in-Chief of the journal Childhood Obesity, President-Elect of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, founder and President of the non-profit Turn the Tide Foundation, and a blogger/medical review board member for the Huffington Post. He's also a gifted public speaker, acclaimed by peers as the "poet laureate of health promotion."

The Community Coalition for Children is bringing Katz to town to talk about how to raise healthy children and prevent disease. The talk, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 7 p.m. and will be preceded by a Health Fair and reception at 6 p.m. at the Garde, 325 State Street, New London.

No advance registration is required and walk-ins are welcome. Free child care will be available on site, so bring the kids. The talk will be simultaneously translated in sign language and Spanish. For more information, call (860) 444-4790.
