My question once again is, say what? If there is some link I should go to for a translation,I'm willing. I'm confident that The Patch would not intentionaly ignore any group. Since that is my belief, I have trouble with this one ,exclusionary, choice. I'd like to be privy to this interesting entry. Mr. Garyochara's credentials are impressive. Would it be ultra expensive, or problematic, to offer us a translation?
Again, if I've missed an available translation, pardon me. If not, willl you please explain why you do not? Is this the right forum for this question? I think so. The fix seems easy. You are leaving out most of your readers. Que?

P.S. Is this all because you have a token Spanish issue? touchy?
Patrick Herring April 20, 2012 at 01:26 pm
Guido!

Thanks, Francisco Moya. Last time I looked was last night and all my comments showed in order. The 1st comment was pending for an hour. During that hour window, no other comments showed .I could only see mine, pending approval . After an hour I fired off the other comments. I could not read any comments or advice. My previous post is still pending. If they allow it, please disregard as I had not seen your posts . I'm gonna go read it finaly! Jeez Louise
I was mostly looking for a translation, or a link. As to the other questions I posed I would welcome a direct answer.
J. Scagnetti April 22, 2012 at 02:23 pm
hey patrick i'm an american and i speak four languages , all constance was asking for was a translation, no need to call her a "typical american" . Love how you people come here and absolutely refuse to assimilate. This country is in need of a major overhaul before it's too late.
Patrick Herring April 23, 2012 at 01:31 pm
J. Scagnetti, you are an exceptional american. If you speak these four languages fluently, you may work as a waiter in Zurich.
This blog is not an "english only" blog, so if you want to reach your own constituents in your native language, you can do so here. If you do not understand what is posted here, find a translation service, copy and paste the content and get the gist of what it is talking about. If you want to humor the author, replying in French, like I did, but posting 9 messages, asking about the English version is a bit excessive.
J. Scagnetti April 23, 2012 at 01:52 pm
Patrick, my point wasn't what a great american i am , just that i don't appreciate anti-american speech when i see it. You could have simply said what you said to me or even offered constance a brief run down on what the article was about if you chose to respond at all. Sorry but as someone who was served and fought for my country i won't put up with it when i see it no matter what the language. And i didn't appreciate your petty barb about being a waiter in zurich but this only tells me what kind of person you are and see no further need for correspondence with you.
Patrick Herring April 23, 2012 at 03:03 pm
It is not an anti-american speech. It is just the fact, we americans, in general, do not speak another language. Statistically, americans has a lowest percentage of its people who speak more than one language, comparing to its european counterparts.
Speaking four languages (German, Italian, English, French) is a requirement if you want to work as a waiter in Zurich. Not everyone can do it. Chill out. It was used as a compliment......
constance stripling April 23, 2012 at 03:04 pm
I would have stopped at one message if The Patch had not kept my comment pending for an hour,or had responded the last time I asked. Calling me typical, or any other snide response, is your right. For example you state, "Constance, it sounds like a typical American, speaking a language and complained alot." Sounds to me like you should brush up on your Spanish grammer, or stick to English. I hope your grasp of english is better than your flimsy grip on spanish.
The Patch, or Dirk, refuse to answer my queries. I have asked why this blog is only available in Spanish before this. No answer then, nor this time. Throwing one Spanish blog in the mix appears to me to be a token gesture. How many comments does Mr. Garaycochea receive? About none since most skip the blog automaticly? This blog is not," english only". Maybe so, but the ENTIRE content of The Patch IS in enlish only. Does that mean that every spanish speaking reader must translate every word on Patch? If they understand only spanish, the only thing they can read with ease is Mr. G's blog. That makes no sense. I'm still waiting for a response from the editor. I don't think Dirk will come forward though. It's tough explaining reverse discrimination or tokenism.
constance stripling April 23, 2012 at 03:42 pm
P.S. Mr Herrring, I just reread your last post.Your grasp of english grammer is just as sloppy as your spanish. " Statistically, americans has a lowest", should be have....."than its european", should be it's....... Amazing that you insult typical americans, or anyone for that matter. Until you are perfect, which you are not, stop throwing stones. Your glass house is shattering as you write. Next time you want to show off your bilingual prowess, brush up on your english first. .
Patrick Herring April 23, 2012 at 04:28 pm
Really Constance?
Since you want to be perfect, let me show you what those words mean: It's is a contraction for it is or it has. Its is a possessive pronoun meaning, more or less, of it or belonging to it. So I believe I am correct when I used "its". Also, "grammar" not "grammer". We all can use some improvements, but for now focus on the content......
constance stripling April 23, 2012 at 04:55 pm
I never claimed to be above the," typical american", you did, sir. I have no desire for perfection in anyone. How bout explaining ," americans has"? I am not a stickler for perfection in the comment section. I've copped to my spelling deamons and recognize I am far from perfect. I responded to you only after Mr. Scagnetti, who you also insulted, enlightened me to your derogatory response.
Yes , it's good you recognize that we ALL can use some improvements. I'd love to focus on the content of the blog, but can't. I don't mind reading your comments, in english, either. That's been my point all along! Thanks for helping me make it!!

On Thursday of last week our comment system suffered a technical issue which held up the publication of comments posted by readers. It was fixed by Friday morning. We apologize for the delay in comments making it into the public sphere.
constance stripling April 23, 2012 at 09:54 pm
Elissa Bass, that explains my flurry of posts at 3:58. As I've said, I thought an hour was a long time pending approval. Thank You

You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people when they haveRead More Kathleen Mitchell looking out for them. This is just sickening how with all the evidence that Kathleen has provided that Jeff Smith is not suspended as of today. The arrogance of this entire administration is beyond belief. I want to know what the Mayor has to say about this and I also would like to hear from Macrino, Hyslop and Passero.
citygirl June 19, 2013 at 07:04 am
I suggested this idea at least 6 months ago- watching the city council meetings over time I thoughtRead More "how arrogant this guy is"- he doesn't feel our pain so he probably doesn't live in NL- someone should have caught onto this a couple of years ago- Again I say, if you want to work for the city of NL you MUST live in the city of NL- otherwise you really don't care what happens here- you're not really invested in our city- you can't take a paycheck and run to a nice suburban town where taxes are lower than NL-
Mark Felt June 19, 2013 at 07:14 am
This is very clear Jeff Smith is a liar! Either he lied about living in New London, or he lied onRead More his political contribution forms. Does it really matter when or about what he lied? NO he is still a liar. Jeff Smith apparently has registered to vote in New London yet his vehicle is registered in Windham, state law dictates that he has 30 days to change his registration to his town of residence. Jeff Smith has no respect for the laws of this state. Which is true the car registration or the voter registration? Jeff smith is in violation of the law either way. The city council president was made aware of this when Kathleen spoke to the council. What will council president Passero do about this? Nothing is the talk around town. Passero is taking his marching orders from the mayor, the mayor likes Jeff Smith, he will spin the numbers however the mayor tells him. Passero has no choice he has made his deal with the devil. Jeff Smith is the person with his hands on the money in the city and he is not an honest man! The saga of the Whaling City gets worse and worse.
