Greasing The Skids—Charity Begins At Home in New London
How New London is turning cooking oil into heating oil for families in need.

The New London Police Department is not only proud of our exceptional officers, but also their amazing families.
For the past five years, Vanessa Bertsch has been part of an effort titled “TGIF - Turn Grease Into Fuel”, which works with restaurants to donate grease that is, then, turned into biodiesel to help heat the homes of those in need. On Friday, TGIF donated 1,000 gallons of heating fuel to charity in New London.
TGIF was started and is organized by children. The group was named one of “CNN Heroes Young Wonders” for 2012. (http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/bestoftv/2012/12/19/cnnheroes-cassandra-lin.cnn.html)
