MS Walk 2011

For a 15th year, Mitchell College in New London will host the Travelers Walk MS, now presented by North American Power on Sunday, April 10. Walkers will check-in at 8 a.m. in the Clarke Auditorium the hit the streets at 9 a.m.

Last year’s Travelers Walk MS attracted nearly 9,000 participants and raised a record amount of more than $1.3 million. The National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter hopes to raise more than $1.4 million this year.

More than 400 walkers raised roughly $65,000 last year at the New London walk. This year the community will stride toward a goal of $68,000.

At this year’s event, the New London site will feature the national anthem sung by the winner of the “Catch A Rising Star national anthem contest,” music provided by WCTY 97.7, balloons, necklaces and face paint for kids, and a cheering section for walkers provided by Target employees. Dogs are also welcome to walk along the route on campus.
