LQM Gallery Presents 'East Meets West: A Prospective' Art Exhibition Opening

'East
Meets West: A Prospective' is LQM Gallery's newest exhibition
featuring four Chinese Women artists taking part in the ICAS
(International Contemporary Art Space) International Residency
program. With painterly and expressive brush strokes
and Eastern traditional manner, each artist has a passion for life
and art. Molded by their experiences and a desire to discover and
take part in new journeys, these artists draw their inspiration from
the paths they've taken and those they look to follow next.

Loose
and expressive applications of paint and themes which touch both on
both traditional and modern forms of art demonstrate the effervescent
nature of these four women artists from China. Each has worked
diligently to establish themselves within a number of artistic
societies and institutes and has strong ambition to explore,
experiment and grow further. Artist Zhang Shuyun finds beauty and
peace within nature. Her work is an expression of her thoughts and
spirit. Meditative and in the moment, her works become an extension
of herself and the world she experiences around her. She is a
painter at the Xu Beihong Art Institute, member of the Beijing Oil
Painting Society and director of Qinhuangdao Artists group. Xu
Chunli uses her imaginative vision to whimsically render every day
objects and scenery as well as pieces which touch lightly on the
beauty and frailties of the human condition. Along with a number of
international exhibits including the Beijing Olympics Contemporary
Art Exhibition, Xu is also a teacher, member of the Hebei Artists
Association, Deputy Secretary-General of the Qinhuangdao Artists
Association and Vice President of the Qinhuangdao Oil Painting Arts
Council. Artist Ben Ni uses themes and images from traditional
Chinese folk paper cuts and Buddhism and combines them with elements
from nature such as birds and flowers in order to display and parody
the interactions between tradition and what is modern. She desires
to be imbue her artwork with harmonious feeling and elements which
reflect her thoughts and imagination. She is a college lecturer as
well as a member of the Artists Association of Hebei Province.
Artist Guan Yuling is a freelance painter with a powerful and
youthful exuberance which she portrays in her artworks. She derives
her inspirations from her travels, experiences and inward reflections
on herself. In creating thousands of expressive and energetic works,
her perceptions of the world around her take precedence over more
direct reproductions of nature and humanity.

artists will be available to meet with the public at the show opening
