Permanent Collection. Opening reception 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Oct.
18. Through Nov. 30. Free. Wednesdays through Fridays, 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and by appointment. Provenance

Center, 165 State St., New

London. (860) 405-5887; provenancecenter.com.

The dominant theme of the exhibit, curated by Nadesha Mijoba, is the 500 years of diverse ethnic and cultural influences on Caribbean Art, such as the Arawak

peoples of the Caribbean, slaves from Africa,

and waves of immigrants, including artists of European origin. The nature of

Caribbean Art expresses these diverse origins, as contemporary artists have

taken their roots, trainings and traditions and adapted them to reflect their
artistic expressions.

The Latin Network for the Visual Arts works to culturally enrich

the community through art created by contemporary Latin American and Latin

European artists.
