Volunteerism at the upcoming 31st Annual Home Show (by Jenks Productions) @ Connecticut College is the main subject of The New London Lions Club during a luncheon meeting at Goldy's in New London on March 5th beginning at 12:15pm.
For over 90-years, since it's founding on 08/15/1932, The New London Connecticut Lions Club has been serving & coming to the aid of New London residents.
Primarily serving the needs of the sight-impaired with FREE eye exams, FREE vision prescriptions, & FREE eyeglasses for those that qualify, The New London Lions also extends their hands of assistance to The Center of the Blind, The Gemma E. Moran/United Way Food Service Center, & The New London Community Meal Center - amongst other groups & organizations.
Annually, the club awards at least three scholarships to academically outstanding students @ New London High School who plan on immediately continuing their education at an accredited institution of higher learning.
The Lions will be operating the concessions area for the entire "run" of Jenks Productions 31st annual spring "Home Show of Eastern Connecticut" from 5pm FR., March 15 thru 5pm, SU., March 17, 2013.
In addition, on SA., 03/17/13, a FREE, professionally administered, vision screening co-managed by members of The Groton Lions Club & The New London Lions Club will take place in "The Hall of Fame" room located in The Athletic Center from 11am - 5pm.
There is always a something "special" going on at a Lions meeting! And, a special speaker on a topical subject is usually featured. Great camaraderie! And, we sing good spirited songs too!
Membership in Lions is by "invitation only". However, if you were to make your interest in their activities known to a club member, a friendly enduring relationship & active satisfying membership won't be that far away for you.
