Near Water's Edge, the New London Maritime Society's first special exhibition of 2013, features artist Denny Moers's innovative photographic monoprints investigating concepts of water's various manifestations in landscape from dams, rivers, lakes and flooded fields. Opening on Saturday, January 26, the exhibition runs through February 16, 2013, at the Custom House Maritime Museum, 150 Bank Street, New London, Connecticut. The opening reception takes place January 26, 2013, from 6 to 8 PM, and coincides with Hygienic Arts Annual Salon Des Independants art show. The event is free and open to the public.

Denny Moers creates imaginative, technically innovative monoprints by controlling the action of light on the chemical-sensitized photographic paper during the print developing process, giving his black and white photographs an extraordinary range of tonalities. Denny Moers received his MFA from the Visual Studies Workshop. During the 1980's he worked as Aaron Siskind's first assistant and printer. He received a RI Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts in 2003 and the RI Council on the Arts Fellowship in Photography for 2012.

Denny Moers's photographic monoprints are included in over 30 public and private collections throughout the world including the the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Huston Museum of Art, the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and the Museo Rufino Tamayo, Mexico City. His artwork is represented by the Robert Klein Gallery, Boston, Mass., June Bateman Gallery, NYC, and Thomas Meyer Fine Art, San Francisco, CA.

See you at the Custom House Saturday night, from 6 to 8 PM!

The mayor and council president will lie and cheat to protect the mayor's unqualified and dishonestRead More people. The council and the council leadership is supposed to act as a check and balance in this new form of government. Mr. Smith is one of those dishonest people. It is sad that this person can be so dishonest and that the so called leaders in the community back the dishonest person rather than standing up for the taxpayers and people that really do live here and pay taxes. As a finance director Mr. Smith knows the importance of the proper tax town for vehicles, so he cannot claim ignorance. Is he is breaking the law because the taxes in Windham are lower or because he truly lives in Windham?
