The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra concert series continues on Saturday, February 8, at 8 PM, at the Garde Arts Center in New London. ECSO Music Director, Toshiyuki Shimada, conducts a program that includes: Beethoven's "Symphony No. 2," Samuel Barber's "Symphony No. 1 in One Movement, " and Brahms' "Double Concerto for Violin and Cello." The concert features Stephan Tieszen, ECSO Concertmaster and Alvin Wong, former ECSO Principal Cello. (Mr. Wong just took a position with the University of Melbourne Australia in the Conservatorium of Music.)
Mr. Tieszen and Mr. Wong will host the pre-concert conversation at 7 PM optional for ticket holders. The soloists are sponsored by Dominion Millstone Power Station. Special discounts for seniors, students and serving military personnel are available in selected seating areas. Student and active military personnel Rush Tickets are available the evening of the performance for $12 at the box office. All audience members are invited to a free post-concert reception to mingle with the musicians, guest soloists and of course, the conductor.
