Community Corner

1st Annual Co-op Fair

Fiddleheads Food Cooperative is inviting the public to attend a Co-op Fair in celebration of National Co-op Month and the International Decade of the Cooperative!  Representatives from regional cooperatives, including consumer cooperatives and worker cooperatives, will be sharing information about their organizations and about the cooperative model.

The public is invited to learn about the cooperative model and receive a Passport Discount (available between 10:00-2:00): Get 4 stamps and get 10% off!

Cooperatives are unique because they are democratically controlled, member-owned enterprises. Members of cooperatives pool their assets to meet the needs of their community in the form of food, financial services or purchasing power for businesses. Locally owned and controlled, cooperatives play a vital role in the economic development and stability of the communities they serve, helping people improve their lives through an increase in jobs and access to goods and services that would otherwise be more expensive, lower in quality, or simply unavailable.

At 1:00 pm, Erbin Crowell, Director of the Neighboring Food Co-op Association, will speak about the power of the cooperative business model and the importance of cross-sector collaboration.
