Former Congressman Sam Gejdenson Endorses Erica Richardson for City Council

Political season is heating up as the November municipal elections draw closer and the candidates begin to campaign in earnest.

On Friday, former Congressman Sam Gejdenson, who served New London County from 1981 - 2001, endorsed Erica Richardson for the New London City Council.

Erica Richardson, a New London Resident, serves on the Police Community Relations Committee and is a Democratic nominee for City Council this November.

Erica worked for Congressman Gejdenson from 1997 to 2001 at his offices in Connecticut and Washington D.C.

Erica has a Bachelor of Science from Roger Williams University as well as experience drafting legislation, obtaining bipartisan support for legislation, as well as experience organizing and facilitating a regional conference on Connecticut tourism during her tenure with Congressman Gejdenson.

In addition to her government service, Ms. Richardson also has experience successfully managing large budgets in the private sector.

"I am proud to endorse Erica for a seat on the City Council and I am confident that she will show the same skills and initiative that made her a valuable member of my staff," said Congressman Gejdenson.

"I am looking forward to the opportunity to put my professional experience, working in a legislative body with a diverse group of individuals to good use helping the City address the critical issues at hand. This includes restoring staffing levels in our key City Departments, continuing to improve our public school system, and encouraging economic development," said Richardson.

Congressman Gejdenson will attend a fundraiser for Erica Richardson on Thursday, September 19th, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Dev's which is located at 357 Bank Street, New London, CT.

"This is a great endorsement from someone that served New London admirably and continues to show the excellent candidates the Democratic Party has fielded in this election." said Democratic Town Committee Chairman Bill Satti.

This event is open to the public and all are welcome. The minimum suggested donation is $15.
