Skateboard And Manga Exhibit Meet In The Parking Lot

, is an exhibit at the , which explores where art intersects with the sport. Specifically, the exhibit features work by contemporary artists applied to the bottom of commercially availalbe skateboards.

But, when the Lyman Allyn Art Museum hosted a skateboarding demonstration by skaters from Wigwam Skateboards in Montauk, New York, an unexpected mingling of live art and the sport elevated the union of art and skateboards from the board into life.

Toshi Salvino, of Spring City, Penn., is a manga artist featured in the museum's other exhibit, , which opened the day of the skateboarding demonstration. Salvino arrived at the opening in costume and looking a lot like the larger-than-life character depicted in a wall mural at the gallery's entrance.

Salvino, who is also a contortionist and a model, needed little convincing to join in on skateboard demonstration.
