A couple of animals at have been staying there for a few months, and the shelter is hoping to find good homes for them and some other new animals. These are the descriptions and photos given by the shelter on its Facebook page. For information about adopting any of these animals, visit the shelter at Bates Woods Park or contact New London Animal Control at 860-447-5269.
- Mama Pibbs, a pit bull with the nickname Pibbles, has been at the shelter for over three months. How friendly is she? Recently, she escaped her pen when it was not latched properly and greeted the police officer checking out the alarm call by offering up her favorite bone. She's about two or three years old and 45 pounds, and loves to play with her tuggie toy and go for rides in cars. Mama Pibbs is also housebroken and capable of living with other animals, although she should meet them first.
- Strawberry has also been in the shelter over three months. A black cat approximately five or six years old, she is spayed and litterbox trained and loves to have her chin and ears scratched.
- Myles is about 25 pounds and two or three years old. He's a Sheltie mix, tan and white and even a little blueish. Myles seems to be housebroken and is friendly with adults and other animals.
- Coal is a pit bull puppy, perhaps about nine months old. She's high energy and is lacking a bit in manners, meaning she needs a "bully-savvy" owner, but she's also very friendly and loves to play with other dogs.
