New London Schools, Services Resuming On Wednesday

City lifts parking ban and road closure, will resume trash and recycling pickup

New London continues to respond to issues related to the weekend nor'easter, but schools and services are set to resume on Wednesday.

The New London Public Schools will be open and on time. The city will also resume trash and recycling pickup with the regular Wednesday routes, with Monday and Tuesday routes to resume next week.

An order closing the city streets to non-essential traffic was lifted on Tuesday afternoon, as was a parking ban.

Mayor Daryl Finizio said the Department of Public Works was coordinating with the Emergency Operations Center to break up the ice on roads with continuing accessibility issues. Finizio said the Emergency Operations Center will reopen at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday and that inquiries to the mayor's Facebook page would continue to be answered tonight.

Two CL&P customers in New London remained without power as of Tuesday evening while 147 customers in the state had no electricity.
