A New London parents' group will hold a meeting tonight to discuss the mass shooting at a Newtown elementary school.
Members of New London Parent Advocacy will meet at 7 p.m. at the Science and Technology Magnet High School to hold a community vigil. All are welcome to attend.
The Newtown Patch is continuing to report on this morning's incident at Sandy Hook Elementary School, in which a gunman killed 26 people - including 18 children - and himself at the Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Dr. Nicholas Fischer, superintendent of the New London Public Schools, said counselors and psychologists will be available to students on Monday to discuss the shooting. These specialists will be available in all of the district's schools.
According to the Connecticut College Student Government Association page on Facebook, students at the campus are organizing a candlelight vigil at Tempel Green to take place at 8:30 p.m.
Gov. Dannel Malloy has ordered Connecticut and U.S. flags to be lowered to half staff in the wake of the tragedy. Flags will be kept at half staff until the burial of the victims.
