Man Charged In Apartment Burglary

Police accuse Luis Moreno of fleeing from vacant apartment to occupied one

Police have charged a 26-year-old man with burglarizing a Federal Street apartment and failing to cooperate with officers.

Luis Moreno, of 25 South Ledyard Street, was arrested Thursday evening on charges of second-degree burglary, risk of injury, interfering with police, criminal impersonation, and second-degree forgery. He was held on a $100,000 bond and scheduled to be arraigned today.

According to Deputy Chief Marshall Segar of the , police were called to investigate a break-in at a vacant apartment at the low-income housing complex at 47 Federal Street. Segar said Moreno fled from officers and went into an occupied apartment, where he hid in the closet of a child's bedroom.

Segar said Moreno resisted arrest and was uncooperative during the booking process, giving a false name and signing it to his fingerprint cards. No one was injured in the incident.
