Liberty Bank Foundation Awards Grants To Four New London Organizations

Bank grants $73,000 to southeastern Connecticut nonprofits

The Foundation board of directors has included four New London organizations in awarding $73,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations serving the southeastern Connecticut area, according to the Norwich Bulletin.

The , , , and will all benefit from the grants. The grants were awarded in the following amounts:

  • $2,500 to the College Access Program to support access and success programs for low-income and first generation students in New London County
  • $5,000 to Eastern Connecticut Housing Opportunities to support down payment assistance to low-income, first time homeowners in New London County
  • $5,000 to the New London Homeless Hospitality Center to support general programming
  • $5,000 to the Office of Youth Affairs to partially fund the salary of an early childhood coordinator for the Early Childhood Family Center

The Liberty Bank Foundation also included the Norwich organizations Bethsaida Community, Norwich Public Schools and Norwich Safety Net Team as well as the Willimantic organizations Blessings in a Backpack, Covenant Soup Kitchen, and Windham Regional No Freeze Hospitality Center in the grants.

The Liberty Bank Foundation began in 1997 to award grants to community nonprofits, according to the foundation's website. Its 2012 goal is to support preventative programs for families and children, affordable housing, and capacity building in these areas.
