An autumn tradition continued in downtown New London on Wednesday as visitors sampled a number of different restaurants.
The event, a fundraiser put on by New London Main Street, included samples of everything from entrees to desserts from restaurants around town. Local businesses offered discounts or hosted some food vendors, and local musicians played on the sidewalk.
Lyric Cafe, which has been closed pending a switch to new ownership, reopened its doors to greet patrons. Natalya Brown, the new owner who expects to open the restaurant with her husband James in about two weeks, said she was glad for the chance to give a preview of the business.
"We have a great and wonderful chef," said Brown. "The food is great, and we're hoping that we're going to create a very nice and cozy atmosphere here."
Kim Pettey, owner of Pinc! Boutique, brought in apple spice cupcakes with caramel frosting from You Take The Cake.
"We love Food Stroll, because I get a lot of customers this way," said Pettey. "They come back, so it's a good chance for people to come to stores downtown they wouldn't normally come to."
