Ship Models, Stupid Tattoo Day, and Hay Fever

This Week in New London, April 25 to May 1

has dubbed their latest roundup of upcoming events the “Mixed Bag Edition,” and there certainly are a lot of disparate things going on. Art and music are strong as always, and we’ll start with the former.

A ship model and conference show comes to on Saturday. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., a $5 admission (waived for children under 12) lets you check out a variety of models while a $37 fee gets full conference access, including a display table, breakfast, and lunch. Two art openings are set for that evening, with Caroline Antoniadis debuting at 6 p.m. at and the annual juried exhibition opening at at 7 p.m. gives you a second chance to take part in “Stupid Tattoo Day,” offering quarter-sized tattoos for $40 each during normal hours. At , you have until Sept. 1 to check out “Curtains Up,” their exhibit on Broadway costume and set designs.

The musical offerings start at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, when $5 gets you into the to see a performance by Magic In Trees and DeRobert and the Half Truths. holds its fifth annual variety show fundraiser at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at the ’s Oasis Room; tickets are $10. The same evening also sees the come to the theater’s main stage for its last show of the season. This starts at 8 p.m., with a pre-concert lecture at 7 p.m., and tickets are $30 to $54.

Two walks around town are also being sponsored in the coming week. At 3 p.m. on Saturday, a group will depart from the to visit ; the stroll ends at . At 3 p.m. on Sunday, registration for the fifth annual starts at ; walkers depart an hour later.
