Readers' Choice: The Best Outdoor Dining Venue

Where in New London is the best place to eat outside?

To say we had a long, difficult winter is probably a bit of a stretch. But as we return to longer days and warmer temperatures, seasonal places are opening up and restaurants are dragging some tables and chairs out onto the patios and decks.

Several restaurants along the river take advantage of their location with these perks, while other places let you take in the activity around downtown. It's also a good time to bring a picnic or takeout to the park or beach. Which outdoor dining spot is your favorite?

The now-defunct South Side Bistro had a great outdoor atmosphere...unfortunately they are no longer. Rods has the traditional outdoor eating on the deck, but the seating closer to the veranda windows in the front can be far more interesting for people watching when they're open in the summer. It's 'sort of' like outdoor dining...

Both Captain Scott's (80 Hamilton Street, New London, CT) and Muddy Water's (42 Bank St, New London, CT) offer great outdoor dining!
If you're in the mood for seafood/ice cream definitely head over to Capt. Scott's. Or if you're looking for a sandwich/coffee be sure to swing by Muddy Water's.

Captain's Pizza or Hot Rod's. Rod's has a great view of the water and comfortable seating. Captains has a great view of the parade. Both have excellent service.

The mayor and council president will lie and cheat to protect the mayor's unqualified and dishonestRead More people. The council and the council leadership is supposed to act as a check and balance in this new form of government. Mr. Smith is one of those dishonest people. It is sad that this person can be so dishonest and that the so called leaders in the community back the dishonest person rather than standing up for the taxpayers and people that really do live here and pay taxes. As a finance director Mr. Smith knows the importance of the proper tax town for vehicles, so he cannot claim ignorance. Is he is breaking the law because the taxes in Windham are lower or because he truly lives in Windham?
