The next session in a nine-week nutrition and wellness course offered by will begin on Sept. 17.
"Healthier, Happier You" consists of courses running from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays at the Wave Cafe in the hospital lobby. Nutritionist Mary Ann Nash gives a 45-minute presentation on nutrition topics, while the hospital's executive chef, Sal Argento, gives a one-hour cooking class and presentation. Each class includes a meal based on the Mediterranean diet, and participants may have their blood pressure monitored at each session.
Topics include a guide to healthy weight and "defensive eating," carbohydrates, protein, fats, fruits and vegetables, a "virtual" grocery store tour, hydration, exercise, and supplements.
