Government Shutdown Forces Chamber To Postpone Military Appreciation Breakfast

The Eastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce has postponed the military appreciation breakfast it had planned for October 18 because of the government shutdown.

The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut has postponed their 4th Annual Military Appreciation Breakfast due to the federal government shutdown. The event, originally scheduled for Friday, October 18, 2013, will be rescheduled for a date to be determined.

Unfortunately, the prolonged shutdown of the federal government has limited the activities in which service members may participate.

“The decision to postpone the event was made in conjunction with the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. Rescheduling the event undoubtedly causes additional work for the Chamber staff, but the additional work does not come close to the inconvenience that furloughed federal employees and their families are facing at this time,” noted Tony Sheridan, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut.

The important event gives the local business community an opportunity to show their support and connect with the many service members in eastern Connecticut, and the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut is looking forward to paying tribute to all of the branches of the military who are such an important part of our communities.

Information about the rescheduled program will be released once arrangements have been completed. If you purchased a ticket to the breakfast and would like more information, please contact the Chamber office at (860) 701-9113.
