Where to find the cheapest gas in the region

Oil prices continued to decline on less than stellar economic indicators in the United States and Europe, as well as European election results that dealt a blow to European austerity advocates, according to USA Today. Bloomberg reports that oil prices are now at their lowest level so far this year. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton is also urging India to strengthen its reduction of Iranian oil imports to put more pressure on the latter country to cut back on its nuclear program, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Since Friday, the average price of a gallon of regular grade gasoline has fallen by a penny in the state and three cents nationwide, according to ConnecticutGasPrices.com. The Connecticut average stood at $4.04 on Monday morning, while the national average was $3.77. The cheapest reported station in the state was a Sam's Club in Newington with a price of $3.81.

The cheapest reported price in New London was $3.94, available for cash payments at on Broad Street. Most other stations in the city are at $3.99. These include the , , and stations on Williams Street; the on Broad Street; and the on Broad Street and on Ocean Ave., for cash payments.

Journeying across the Thames, you can also find $3.99 gas in Groton at the Citgo on Poquonnock Road. Prices increase incrementally after that, with $4.01 at the Cory's on Route 12 and $4.02 at the Citgo on Gold Star Highway. In Waterford, BJ's has a price of $3.93; the next cheapest options are $3.97 at Bestway and $3.99 at Hess, both on Boston Post Road.
