Once a cleaners and hair salon, the listing company is suggesting a deli or convenience store. What do you think should go in this spot?

Road crossings with traffic lights are usually a viable place to do business, and the intersection of Willetts Ave. and Montauk Ave. is no exception. A small cluster of businesses is huddled around the site, but not every storefront is filled. This site at 205 Montauk Ave. is one of the vacancies.

Until recently, the site was occupied by . Indeed, the windows still have the stenciling and pictures from this business. But the salon has relocated across the street, leaving the old space unoccupied.

Several decades ago, the site was the home of Beacon One Hour Cleaners. In 1970, the owner of this business circulated a petition among other New London merchants requesting more police protection, citing a rash of break-ins around town. Thirteen years after this request, the cleaners was hit by thieves who may have been trying to spiff up their wardrobe. They made off with two tuxedos displayed in the front window, along with the mannequins wearing them.

is listing the building as a whole, which includes a , and starts their sale price at $299,000. They tout the busy intersection, full basement, and warehouse space with an overhead door among the perks. The company says the space at 205 Montauk measures 1,500 square feet and would be "ideal for [a] deli or convenience store."
