Connecticut Magazine Again Names Bean And Leaf One Of State's Best Coffee Bars

For fourth year, New London coffeehouse gets top honor

Although New London has gotten short shrift on most of the categories of Connecticut Magazine's "Best of Connecticut 2012" list, one business in the city continues to wow the editors.

was named the magazine's pick for one of the three best coffee bars in the state. The coffeehouse has won the honor four times and was the only New London business selected in the various categories for this year's issue.

"The coffees here are fair traded and organic—not to mention some of the best we’ve ever tasted. But there’s more to Bean and Leaf Artisanal Coffees and Teas, which is why it’s a winner in our book," the magazine declares. "There’s a tasty selection of light bites, toasted sandwiches, soups and salads to go with your favorite coffee (or tea) drink. And the baked goods are excellent. But at the end of the day, it’s the 'ESP Triple Ristretto' espresso shots that get our hearts racing—literally—and keep us coming back for more."

Bean and Leaf roasts its coffee beans in a separate facility and focuses on fair trade and organic blends, according to its website. The shop is also raising funds with the goal of purchasing its own downtown space and expanding its kitchen area.
