Bank Of America To Close New London Branch

National bank shuttering downtown branch as part of cost-saving measures

plans to shut down a branch in downtown New London later this year.

According to , Bank of America has informed customers it will shut down the State Street location on Aug. 17 and put the building up for sale. In addition to a range of banking services, the bank has a 24-hour ATM in its lobby.

Bank of America announced in 2009 that it planned to close up to 10 percent of its branches as part of a consolidation plan. Other branch closings that have been announced in Connecticut include a Dixwell Ave. branch in New Haven and a student union branch on the campus of the University of Hartford.
