Pro Wrestling Academy Connecticut Ends With a Bang in Bristol Connecticut By Christopher Annino

Pro Wrestling Academy Connecticut celebrated their finale show of 2013 at the boys and girls club in Bristol, Ct. PWA’s Past, Present, and Future was the name of the show. Metaphorically it made a tremendous deal of sense due to the implications to the aftermath of that show. Wrestler’s futures were changed as a reflection of how their past has affected the present. New blood is pumped into the veins of Pro Wrestling Academy Connecticut. It all happened one week ago in Bristol, Connecticut. A new championship was born the Ox Baker Old School Heavyweight Championship which was up for grabs that night. The wrestling legend Ox Baker was in attendance that night and was very humbled by having the title to commemorate his career.

Bristol’s very own Grappling Greg went against both Terrence K Otis aka TKO and Pedro Juan Dones III. Greg had to adjust to TKO’s boxing style, but it was classic one of a kind match where you had a very skilled boxer and Olympic Style wrestler go against each other to help solve the age old question of who is a better fighter. At first he was no match for TKO’s punching ability Greg dodged a few haymakers and resulted in the very technical wrestling moves that were taught to him at the Bristol Boys and Girls Club. He rolled TKO in a pin and after 1, 2,3 the sound of victory echoed in the gymnasium.  Later that night he went onto face PWA Commissioner Pedro Juan Dones III in a much heated rivalry with John Cena Sr managing Greg. Grappling Greg was unstoppable and he vanquished Pedro.

Other highlights of that night were Da House Party defended their titles against the Wild Cardz and Tina San Antonio advanced when she defeated Ashley America. Lucipher Lords won the PWA International Championship against Heart Attack Tommy Mack.

Early that night PWA CT’s head trainer Josef Von Schmidt and assistant trainer Quint Johnson accompanied several of the kids from their youth program to do a demonstration. The kids were a big hit and what they did in the ring reflected on what both Von Schmidt and Quint had taught them. They have developed and fine-tuned their skills. Each kid displayed great talent while demonstrating sportsmanship.

The main event that night was a hardcore table’s match for the Ox Baker Old School Championship title against hardcore icon Bull Dredd. As a kid Wrecking ball idolized Bull Dredd. Wrecking Ball has only been a pro wrestler for about a year in that time Bull has mentored Wrecking Ball. The match was originally to determine who the best and toughest big man was, but it has evolved to commemorate one of the toughest big men in wrestling history Ox Baker. And to commemorate the event and possibly a new division in PWA they now have the Ox Baker Old School Heavyweight championship.  This match displayed the best out of both athletes. Both men crashed through the table and the match was declared a draw but was brought to overtime so that they could declare a winner for that night. There was a tremendous deal of blood, sweat and tears put into that match. Both behemoths’ weigh over 300 lbs and together they made thunderous noise as they clashed both in and out of the ring. Both men had tremendous heart but Wrecking Ball wanted it a little more and in the end his hand was raised to the sky as he was crowned the first ever Ox Baker Old School Heavyweight champion.  Both demonstrated a great match and the crowd was on the edge of their seats.
