Voting Opens For 2013 Whalie Awards
People's Choice polling starts for New London awards show
The polls for the 2013 Whalie Awards are now open!
The annual New London ceremony recognizes local bands and musicians. The "people's choice" section of the awards gives out Whalies based on online polling at the local music website WailingCity.com.
Bands compete in different styles of music, with additional categories for Best Music Themed Series and Best Video. New this year is a write-in category for Best DJ from New London County.
The Whalies, taking place for the fourth year, are described as the "New London equivalent of the Grammys." The event includes a red carpet entrance of nominees and live performances. The ceremony begins with a red carpet entrance at 6 p.m. on May 25 at Hygienic Art Park, with awards presentations starting at 7 p.m.
