Several disc jockeys will converge at this weekend in a show to replace an indie music festival which was called off for this year.
The 33-1/3 DJ Expo and Jam will run from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday on the waterfront. Twelve local and regional DJs are scheduled to take to the turntables, including Prince Paul, a well-known hip hop producer and performer. Prince Paul will headline the show, and a fireworks display will take place over the Thames River during his set.
Guest artists Destroy & Rebuild and Denny Rivera of New York City will be at the festival performing live art. Vendors will also be at the site to sell food and merchandise.
The event replaces the I AM Festival, an indie music concert that began in 2006. This year’s performance was cancelled due to a lack of funds.
