Not Undefeated, But No Losses

1. There's another slight chance of afternoon showers, as the high temperature cools down to 70 degrees. Sunrise is 6:41 a.m., sunset is 6:37 p.m.

2. The boys’ soccer team remains without a loss, although two recent ties have dropped them back to eighth in the Class L standings (3-0-2) behind undefeated Wilby (5-0-0) and several other schools with a mix of ties and wins. The Whalers face off against Windham (4-0-1) tonight at 6:30 p.m. in a home game. Check out the full boys’ soccer schedule .

3. If soccer’s not your thing, you can check out the second of four days the is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. They have a film festival starting at 6:30 p.m. tonight in their community room.

4. Are you a nut for a specific high school sport? We’re going to try to tweet the results of games as they come in, and you can help by joining the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference’s network. You first need authorization through New London High School, but once you have that you can register to submit results here.

5. The American and French militaries began a siege of Yorktown, Virginia on this day in 1781. British troops surrendered on October 19 of that year, ending the last major engagement of the Revolutionary War.
