New London Youth Talent Show: Add Your Photos And Videos

Saturday marked the third year in which local youth were invited to share their talent on the Garde Arts Center stage.

The New London Youth Talent Show was established as a way to offer the youth of New London a creative outlet following the murder of 25-year-old Matthew Chew in 2010. Six men, all of whom were teenagers at the time of the incident, were convicted in the crime. The investigation revealed that they went out to attack someone after becoming bored.

Talent show organizers have promoted the event as a way to showcase youth talent, promote work ethic and other values, and provide opportunities for youth to prevent a similar tragedy from occurring in the future. Last year, the show was opened to New London County as a whole.
