New London Tube: Josi Davis Plays "Ivy Grows"

East Lyme musician performs as part of the Good Sponge Sampler: Vol. II release party

Last month, a group of New London artists came together at the Bulkeley House Saloon to perform songs from the "Good Sponge Sampler, Vol. II." This video showcases one song from the album.

Josi Davis is an East Lyme musician who is also involved in the String Theory School of Music in developing programs to teach things such as singing, piano, and guitar. String Theory's own profile says she's been playing piano since the age of six and has also been involved with Flock Theatre in New London and the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Waterford. Along the way, she's performed at the Boston Folk Festival and earned Foxwoods' first BETSY Award for the chance to open a 2004 performance by Bill Cosby.

Davis was one of 18 southeastern Connecticut artists to contribute a track to the sampler, which was released by Good Sponge Records. As the name implies, the label has done another sampler before this one. They also brought several artists together to release "Rave On," a tribute album to The Reducers.
