Here Are the Winners of the Spring Food Stroll!

New London Main Street announces new restaurants and the winners of the spring food stroll.

From a press release issued by New London Main Street

“Each of the downtown eateries and stores who participated in the evening played a huge role in the night’s success, as did the very pleased strollers, who lined the streets of downtown New London with big smiles and even bigger appetites.

The tastings that the eateries and businesses offered were judged in a lively and fun contest.  Celebrity guest Rick Koster, food and music critic for The Day, joined Johnson & Wales University faculty members, Jack Chiarro and Bill Idell, as the Stroll’s judges.  New London Main Street volunteer Tita Williams hosted the trio, making sure they had ample time to sample every bite that was offered.”

The winners of New London Main Street’s Spring Food Stroll tasting contest are:

  •  First place; Dev’s on Bank for their Roman Pearls
  • Second place: East Coast Catering at the Atrium for their grilled beef taco
  • Third place: Kelly’s on Bank for their mini Reuben

“We've been participating in the stroll since we've opened in 2007, said Candice Devendittis, owner of Dev's On Bank. “Many of our regular customers have told us that they had originally discovered Dev's during a stroll!”

Don’t’ forget dessert! The winners of the dessert contest are: Thames Club won first place for their key lime mousse and Pinc! took second place for their mini cupcakes.

Strollers were delighted to learn about new restaurants, The Open Door Café andThe Steaming Kettle, which are both slated to open on Monday, May 20. Both eateries presented well-received dishes – homemade cannoli and a chicken & bacon Crostini with avocado spread, respectively.
