MOSAIC: Historic Tessellation and Current Adumbration

The story of Mosaic art is as extensive as it is colorful.  The terms “tessellation” and “adumbration” refer to the patterns of Mosaic design and the historical path of this unique art form. Through the eyes and original art work of Connecticut Mosaic artist, Debora Aldo, this exhibit hopes to both enlighten and educate with a selective survey of the history of Western Mosaic Art with its strong influence of the Greek and Roman traditions. We then travel into the modern world of Mosaics, from the late Byzantine era to contemporary time, where Mosaics have enjoyed a resurgence of interest in recent decades.
