"In Memoriam" Art Opening

Spirit Gallery Tattoo – New London’s only tattoo studio and art gallery – presents "In Memoriam,"  a series of photographs and sculptures honoring the dead and the living dead. The collection will hang in Spirit’s main gallery beginning October 1.

The unusual series comes from a collaboration of two artists, local photographer Michael S. Dodd and sculptor Hector Aguilar.

A native of Arizona, Michael S. Dodd resided in California for a number of years before moving to New England in 2002. A career florist, Dodd began studying photography in 2008. His two points of emphasis are cemeteries and architecture. This is his second photo exhibition.

Aguilar currently works as an instructor at the Worcester Art and Fitchburg Art Museums in Massachusetts. Working mostly with WED clay, Aguilar has designed mask and creature designs for a number of monster and Halloween costume suppliers. He was recently featured in “Pulse Magazine.”

The “In Memoriam” artists’ reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, October 1, at Spirit Gallery Tattoo, 207 Bank St., New London. Viewing hours are 12 - 8 p.m., Tuesday - Saturday. The show will hang until November 27.
