An evening of swing jazz

This June the 3 will be a unique magic night !



As the last activity in our old place and before we move to our new location ( 84 Bank Street ), Expressions is very proud to feature two prominent musicians:

Kit Johnson is a skilled musician who regularly performs as a jazz pianist and singer, offers bands for hire, and teaches music lessons. Kit completed his BA in Music Education and English at the University of Northern Colorado. While in the Army he directed the San Francisco Civic Chorale, the Sixth Army Soldiers Chorus, and the musical theater at the Presidio Playhouse. Shortly thereafter he completed masters degrees in Choral Conducting and Piano Pedagogy at the University of Washington. After chairing the music department at Sheridan College, he completed Ph.D. studies at the University of Wyoming and the Eastman School of Music. Kit lives in Stonington, CT with his wife Jane and their cats Bach and Beethoven. He teaches from his home and in New London, CT and Westerly, RI.

Simmy Willemann is a classically trained violinist with a penchant for the blues. From ages 8 to 16, she studied the Suzuki method with Esther Slonczewski in Katonah, NY while offering beginner violin lessons and playing with the Hoff Barthelson Symphony Orchestra, the Greater Westchester Youth Orchestra, and later the North Shore Symphony Orchestra. Since then, Simmy has soloed with Webb Institute's Band and experimented with various musical genres including rock and blues improvisation. She also played in orchestra pits for several  musicals and was the concert master for the Mount Pleasant Theater’s production of “Oklahoma.”
