4. Start planning your weekend or maybe get an unexpected night out with the help of This Week in New London. This collaboration with New London Main Street lets you know about the arts, music, and more going on in the city in the next week and posts every Wednesday at 3 p.m.

5. Annie Oakley, the renowned sharpshooter, was hired as part of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West tour on this day in 1885. The show’s manager, Nate Salsbury, hired Oakley on the spot after seeing her warm up, eschewing the normal three-day application process.
