Can You Spell Canceled? OutCT's Spelling Bee Is Off For Now

OutCT is rethinking the event but in the meantime, there are plenty of other activities planned for the coming months. Don't forget, October 11 is National Coming Out Day.

Not matter whether you spell it "canceled" (the preferred American spelling) or "cancelled," either way, OutCT's "Spell OUT Loud" with Carson Kressley, originally scheduled for October 19 is a no-go for now.

OutCT is re-examining the event and may hold smaller spelling competitions in the area to gain participants. Carson Kressley, who was scheduled to host the event, said he is is more than happy to host the event when it is rescheduled.

In the meantime, OutCT has other upcoming events including a panel discussion on religion at the La Grua Center in November, a panel discussion on gays in the military at the Coast Guard Academy in March, an art exhibit at Expressiones Gallery in June, and plans are being made for next year's pride festival and/or day at Ocean Beach.

A monthly meeting for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth (glbtq) is also in the works.  A public meeting will be held in November to discuss it.  For more information, please visit www.outct.org.

Don't forget too, that October 11 is National Coming Out Day. If you'd like to show your support, wear the color purple.
