New London had a generally hot, sunny day on the Fourth of July. It was perfect for getting out and enjoying the outdoors, hitting the beach, and firing up the grill.
There was also a forecast for potential thunderstorms, and it was enough to postpone fireworks displays around the state. No such pyrotechnics were set to go off in New London, but that didn't mean we missed out on a show in the sky. Late on Wednesday, a very active electrical storm rolled through and treated residents to an incredible display of lightning.
Check out this short clip of the storm, and feel free to add any photos or videos you may have captured of the lightning. And if you still prefer the fireworks, be sure to visit the waterfront at 9 p.m. on Saturday for the annual Sailfest display.
