USCG Barque Eagle Featured on NYC News Channel

The Coast Guard's Barque Eagle was deemed a good "one tank trip" by WCBS' Mike Xirinachs

The Coast Guard Cutter Barque Eagle was featured by a New York City news station as a worthwhile trip within one gas tank away from the City.

WCBS 880′s Mike Xirinachs said that “The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Barque Eagle is a sight to behold" in his latest installment of One Tank Trips on CBS New York.

Xirinachs said that the vessel informs visitors of the nation’s rich maritime history and he learned that it’s one of the biggest in United States.

He wrote, ‘It’s 295 feet from the tip of the stern all the way to tip of the bow. And the masts, the forward two masts, the main and the fore-mast are 145 feet high.’

According to the Eagle’s summer training website, it is currently in en route to Aruba from St. Martin, where cadets spend Memorial Day. The New London Patch reported that “Third class cadets will be sailing until July 27. Fourth class cadets will take over at that point, when the ship is in Boston, and sail to Portsmouth, N.H., before returning to New London on Aug. 9.”
