The Eagle Is Back In New London (And Open For Tours)

Coast Guard tall ship returns from summer journey

The Coast Guard barque Eagle has returned to New London and will once again be open for tours.

The tall ship pulled into harbor at Fort Trumbull on Friday after its 2013 summer cruise to ports in the Caribbean and Canada. The Eagle embarks on these journeys each year as training voyages for Coast Guard Academy cadets.

The ship will be open to public tours at the Fort Trumbull pier from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. beginning on Saturday, according to the Eagle's Facebook page. Tours will not take place when heavy work is being done on deck.

The Eagle will leave New London again next month for a sail with members of the Office Candidate School.
