Storm-Related Closings, Early Dismissals, And Parking Ban In New London

Here's a list of storm-related closings and cancellations posted so far for New London and regionally. Check back again later because there will surely be more to come.

The following organizations have announced weather-related closings, cancellations, and early dismissals in and around New London. Check back for additions as the day goes on. Snow is likely to start again at 3 p.m. If you know of any event that has been postponed or canceled because of the weather, please help spread the word by posting in the comments. 

  • There will be a city wide parking ban effective tonight at 5:00 p.m. There is free parking for City residents at the Water St. Parking Garage and parking available at the downtown municipal lots. Per winter parking regulations, cars need to be parked on the odd side of the street. 
  • The New London School District has canceled all after school activities scheduled for Thursday. There will be no school on Friday. 
  • New London Adult and Continuing Education is closed today. 
  • High Road School in New London closed at noon on Thursday. 
  • The Friendship School in Waterford is dismissing students early on Thursday.
  • Lighthouse Voc-Ed Center in Niantic is closing at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
  • Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut is closing at 3:00 p.m.
  • Boys and Girls Club in New London and Groton has canceled programs for this afternoon.
  • State employees will be released from work early. Dismissals will begin at 3 p.m. and will be staggered to mitigate traffic in the Hartford area.  
  • Due to the weather, the Connecticut Judicial Branch has said jurors and/or potential jurors need not report to state courts on Friday.  
  • The Department Of Motor Vehicles has canceled all road tests for Thursday and Friday. Anyone with a scheduled road test can call DMV to choose a new date at 800-842-8222.
