St. Patrick's Day Parade Searching For Queen And Court

Parade to take place in New London on March 17

The organizers of a St. Patrick's Day parade in New London are seeking a queen for the event.

The parade committee has announced that the queen and her court of four will attend events on behalf of the committee. The queen and court will be announced on March 2 at the New London Firefighters Pipe and Drum fundraiser, which will take place at the Crocker House Ballroom.

Mia Berube, chair of the committee, said the queen will receive makeup and hairstyling from Bijou Salon and Spa, a gift certificate from Greenlight Boutique, and jewelry from Mallove Jewelers.

Anyone interested in applying should contact Berbue at 860-917-1991 or nlstpatricksqueen@gmail.com. Applications should be submitted by Feb. 20.

The parade, with the theme "Everyone is Irish for a Day," will take place in downtown New London on March 17. The committee was established to retain a parade in the city after a disagreement over permit costs prompted the New London Irish Parade to hold their event in a different community in 2013.
