Seniors Stand With Locked Out Hospital Workers

A Press Release from Connecticut Alliance for Retired Americans

At 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Connecticut Alliance for Retired Americans planned stand in the cold with workers from Lawrence and Memorial hospital. 

The workers, all highly trained professionals are enduring a second week of being locked out of the hospital by their employer. When employees expressed their need to have some job security assurances, Lawrence and Memorial hospital abruptly ended talks and prevented workers from returning to work.

Connecticut Alliance for Retired Americans (CT ARA) executive board is outraged that Lawrence and Memorial community hospital is treating their employees so badly.  

Bette Marafino, President of CT ARA expressed it best: “Whether we like to believe it or not, our members often need hospital services.  If L & M will treat their family of employees like this, how will they treat us when we need hospital services?”  

CT ARA hopes that L & M corporate leaders behind this lockout will come to their senses.
